The Community Health Care Clinic, located in Normal,Illinois is a grass-roots non-profit that provides free primary health care services, prescription medications and referral services to those who do not have health insurance, nor qualify for government-assisted programs. The Clinic was established in 1993 through the efforts of our local medical society, hospitals, businesses and religious organizations in order to address a growing need for medical services for those who fell through the cracks of the local healthcare delivery system. Through a small staff and a network of volunteer providers, the Clinic treats over 3,000 patients a year, many of whom are working yet do not have access to health insurance. Most of the Clinic patients are those who have chronic illnesses such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease requiring multiple medications and life-long treatment. By providing ongoing, quality medical care, Clinic patients are less likely to access local emergency rooms and need lengthy, expensive hospitals stays related to untreated chronic conditions. Because the Clinic does not receive any public state or federal funds, 100% of its funding comes from the organizations, businesses, individuals and grants.
